Another great California CDL practice test to take you one step closer to getting behind the wheel! Multiple choice questions, immediate grading, detailed explanations for every question and integrated study aids - everything you've come to love about other CDL practice tests on the website! This is a general knowledge practice test, which means that you will not find questions on air brakes, combination vehicles, double and triple trailers or tank vehicles in the exam.  If you are applying for a class A California drivers license in 2020 and intend to obtain those endorsements, we have separate DMV practice tests to cover your need!

There is a lot of confusion around the California CDL permit test, different testing procedures and what exams are involved when you are applying for a specific commercial drivers license class.  For instance, many believe that the class A general knowledge test is different from the class B general knowledge test.  This is not true, the general knowledge test 2020 is the same no matter what class of the CDL you are applying for and a class A license California practice test will work for anyone applying for a class B or a class C license.  What is true is that those who choose to apply for a class A drivers license must take the California combination vehicles test in addition to the general knowledge exam.  The air brakes test is also highly recommended for every class A drivers license applicants, as most of the combination vehicles are equipped with air brakes and you will not be able to operate them unless you have this endorsement.

This California class A practice test features 20 questions that come from the DMV written test and the official drivers handbook.  All questions are either multiple choice or true or false and you always have two to four answers to choose from.  The DMV practice test is graded on the fly and you know whether you have picked the right answer immediately after indicating your choice.  Whenever you happen to make a mistake, the CDL practice test will halt, display the correct answer and provide a detailed explanation for that answer so you don't make the same mistake twice.  It really pays not to skip those explanations, as they help to increase information retention rates quite dramatically and you will not have to waste your time on repeating this California DMV CDL practice test over and over again.
