If you want to learn to drive large commercial vehicles such as livestock transportation trucks, flat-beds and buses, you’ll need to take the Class A permit test for South Carolina. This first DMV SC exam you’ll need to pass is the CDL general knowledge DMV permit test. You can book this exam at your local DMV office, but you’ll need to study hard to make sure you have all the information you need first. Thankfully, this Class A license SC practice test can make the process a lot easier! Once you’ve secured a passing grade of 80 percent or above on this SC DMV test, you’re ready to start taking practical driving lessons in any Class A vehicle!

When it comes to Class A, we’ve got some good news and some bad news! Unfortunately, as all vehicles within this class have air brakes and are considered combination vehicles, you will also need to pass a minimum of two extra endorsement tests on top of the general knowledge exam. The two mandatory exams we’re referring to are the Air Brake endorsement DMV SC test and the Combination Vehicle endorsement test. That’s the bad news. The good news is that these exams are far less extensive than the 50-question CDL general knowledge DMV written test for 2024, featuring just 20 DMV test questions. And to take the pressure off a little more, we have an appropriate DMV CDL practice test for South Carolina, for each of these endorsement exams. So, you won’t be on your own when the time come to prepare!

We also have free CDL practice tests which apply to the other endorsement exams. These include HazMat, School Bus, Passenger and Tank. You may choose to take one or more of these in addition to the two mandatory endorsements, depending on what sort of vehicle you eventually want to drive. This is because certain types of cargo, equipment and driving situations require specialist knowledge. For instance, if you think you might end up transporting hazardous materials, you would need to obtain a HazMat endorsement. If these materials were in liquid form, you would need a Tank endorsement too. You don’t have to make these decisions now, as the CDL general knowledge South Carolina Class A test comes first, you should begin studying for that with this quiz.

It doesn’t matter if you’re not 100 percent certain you want a Class A license, because the general knowledge DMV SC permit test assesses your understanding of material that is relevant to every class. So, it is the same for Class C, Class B and Class A commercial driving students. That means that while this quiz is a Class A practice test for South Carolina, it is also just as suitable for Class B and Class C! So, you can relax and make decisions about your specific career path later if you want to.

You’ll find 20 fixed DMV test questions on this quiz, which will measure your knowledge of standard commercial driving topics from basic vehicle control, to road signs and rules. The SC DMV handbook contains detailed information on these topics and every other subject you’ll need to know about to stand a chance of passing the exam. If you’re wondering why we have only included 20 questions on this 2024 DMV practice test SC quiz, rather than 50 questions like the real exam – the answer is simple. A full-length quiz can take around 20 minutes to complete, but you can work through this handy little test in under five minutes! Try it now and see for yourself!
