If you dream of becoming a commercial driver and see yourself driving huge vehicles like flat-bed trucks, tank vehicles and livestock transportation trucks, you’re going to need to pass the CDL Class A permit test for Alabama. The first stop on your road to success will be the general knowledge DMV permit test. This extensive, 50-question written exam will enable you to start taking practical driving lessons in your vehicle of choice. If you’re aiming for a Class A license, you will also need to take a minimum of two smaller endorsement exams – but we’ll talk about this a bit more later on.

This Class A license Alabama practice test can help you get ready for the 2024 DMV written test. You will of course need to get your hands on a copy of the Alabama DPS handbook and read it thoroughly. This manual contains all the vital information you need to know, from basic vehicle control to road signs and road rules. There is a lot of material to cover before you’ll be ready for the DPS test in Alabama, but thanks to this Class A CDL practice test, learning from the manual can take weeks rather than months. In order to use this quiz effectively, we suggest taking regular breaks from reading the DMV handbook whenever your concentration starts to wane and use that time to work on the test. That way, you’ll find it easier to study for longer periods of time and this DMV practice permit test will help fill in any gaps in your understanding.

Even if you’re not certain you want to pass the Alabama Class A test, this quiz is right for you. As the CDL general knowledge material is relevant to all commercial vehicles, regardless of their size and weight, the actual general knowledge DPS permit test is the same for everybody. Which means, this 2024 DMV practice test for Alabama is suitable for all three classes of commercial driving learner permit. It works for Class A, but also as a Class C and Class B practice test for Alabama. If becoming Class A qualified does turn out to be your ultimate goal, you will need to take two extra DPS exams for an Air Brake endorsement and a Combination Vehicles endorsement. These are both mandatory for Class A drivers as most vehicles in this class have these two features. You will not find questions related to these endorsements on our CDL general knowledge practice test for Alabama, but we do have other free CDL practice tests on the website which focus on these topics. The aspiring Class A driver may also need to take other endorsement tests, depending on what sort of vehicle they wish to drive and what load they will be transporting. For instance, transporting hazardous materials would require a HazMat endorsement, whereas carrying liquids would require a Tank endorsement.

We have included 20 multiple-choice DMV test questions on this 2024 CDL practice test for Alabama, which we promise are completely authentic and in-line with the material in the current DPS booklet. Our quiz is slightly under half the size of the real permit test, so you will probably find you can work through it in a little under five minutes.
